Extending the Abstract Submission Deadline and 2025 Annual Meeting Highlights

Extending the Abstract Submission Deadline and 2025 Annual Meeting Highlights
2:38

Because we understand the complexity of this year’s funding and travel uncertainty, we are extending the abstract submissions deadline for this fall’s BMES 2025 Annual Meeting to Friday, May 30th.

Assembling the numerous pieces that go into the Annual Meeting gets complicated when we extend our deadlines. While we’ve extended them before, this year’s decision is driven by the unprecedented set of circumstances impacting our community in 2025. So, this year, we are offering a lengthier extension than in the past. We want to ensure that you have every opportunity to showcase your research.

Conference registration for this year’s Annual Meeting will open in approximately two weeks. For planning purposes, note that, for the second year in a row, we will not raise registration fees for the conference.

This year’s meeting marks the beginning of a new phase: We are inviting more industry members and more clinicians to participate so that the programming and conversations outside of the science – which represents the heartbeat of our conference – is even more robust and timely.

Many of our Special Sessions and other events this year will focus on research funding alternatives and peer support, and also on career enhancement – we’ll be announcing these as they are confirmed.

We are also reimagining our very popular hosted receptions this year by enhancing community-building and taking advantage of San Diego’s enviable climate. We will also be soon announcing an initiative to provide financial support to some young scientists who have children.

Our popular Meet the Faculty program also returns this year, and Medtronic has just confirmed that it will again sponsor our student design competition.

Because we’ve heard your feedback, we’re modifying the cadence of the meeting so that you can attend more scientific and special sessions and also have time to visit San Diego’s local attractions.

Research conferences, especially the BMES Annual Meeting, provide a critical role in fostering the exchange of scientific ideas, collaboration and breakthroughs. Our annual conference is a research, innovation and networking focal point for thousands of biomedical engineers and others allied to the field.

The time has never been more important than now to participate actively, to present your work, to provide peer support, and to share your knowledge and experience with the community.

Stay tuned for more surprises and details of this year’s exciting annual gathering.
