Northeast Biomedical Engineering League (NE-BME League)
BMES and NE-BME League Partnership
The Biomedical Engineering Society and the Northeast Biomedical Engineering League have established a formal partnership to strengthen regional collaboration, support biomedical engineering education and research, and advance the success of the Annual Northeast Bioengineering Conference.
Through this collaboration, BMES and the NE-BME League work together to support programming, operations, and engagement opportunities that serve biomedical engineering faculty, students, and professionals across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
About the Northeast Biomedical Engineering League
The Northeast Biomedical Engineering League is a consortium of biomedical engineering department chairs from leading universities in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. The League is dedicated to fostering collaboration across institutions and promoting excellence in biomedical engineering research and education.
A core activity of the NE-BME League is the organization of the Annual Northeast Bioengineering Conference, which rotates among host universities within the region and brings together students, faculty, industry partners, and academic leaders.
Partnership Objectives
Under this partnership, BMES and the NE-BME League collaborate to:
-
Support and promote the Annual Northeast Bioengineering Conference as a BMES Regional Conference
-
Enhance conference planning, marketing, registration, sponsorship, and communications in coordination with the host institution
-
Strengthen engagement with regional industry partners and expand opportunities for industry participation
-
Develop educational programming including webinars that highlight multidisciplinary approaches in biomedical engineering
-
Increase opportunities for students, trainees, and professionals to connect, collaborate, and participate in regional activities
Annual Northeast Bioengineering Conference
The Annual Northeast Bioengineering Conference is hosted by a rotating NE-BME League member academic institution and supported by the Biomedical Engineering Society. The conference typically features scientific sessions, poster presentations, senior design competitions, industry exhibits, panel discussions, and networking events.
BMES works alongside the NE-BME League and host university to assist with conference promotion, registration, sponsorship development, and overall meeting execution, while the NE-BME League maintains leadership over conference content and programming.
Ongoing Engagement and Programming
In addition to the annual conference, the partnership supports year-round engagement through educational webinars, regional collaboration initiatives, and participation at the BMES Annual Meeting. These efforts are designed to promote continuous learning, highlight regional research strengths, and build pathways for future biomedical engineering leaders.
Together, BMES and the NE-BME League are committed to advancing biomedical engineering through strong regional partnerships, inclusive engagement, and shared leadership across academia and industry.
