About the Job
Cardiovascular Engineering and Technology (CVET) is one of the four BMES journals published by Springer Nature. The current Editor-in-Chief, Igor Efimov, has served since 2021 and will step down in December 31, 2025. Under his leadership, the Journal has attracted a diverse set of articles from academia and industry. The BMES Publications Board is launching the search for the next Editor-in-Chief.
CVET presents a wide spectrum of research, from basic to translational, in all aspects of cardiovascular physiology and medical treatment. It offers academic, clinical, and industrial investigators a forum for the dissemination of research that uses engineering principles and methods to advance fundamental knowledge and technological solutions related to the cardiovascular system.
The Journal is currently publishing its 16th volume with six issues per volume. The Journal has published an average of 54 articles per year with an average acceptance rate of 33%. The Journal’s Impact Factor in 2023 was 1.6, and the five-year Journal Impact Factor was 2.1 (as of 2023). The Journal is indexed in EBSCO, Google Scholar, Portico, SCOPUS, SCIE, and numerous others.
The Journal has a Deputy Editor-in-Chief and 50 associate editors, who are responsible for individual manuscript reviews. Associate Editors are international and represent both industry and academia (engineers and clinicians). The Editor-in-Chief is assisted by an editorial assistant, provided by Springer-Nature, who manages the review process. The Editor-in-Chief is also provided with a stipend by BMES. About You
We are looking for an Editor-in-Chief with a background relevant to Cardiovascular Engineering and prior journal editorial experience. Candidates should have the vision and desire to continue the Journal’s growth, maintain its reputation, and work productively with Springer-Nature and BMES staff. The new Editor-in-Chief will serve an initial three-year term, with the potential for a second three-year term. Any additional terms are at the discretion of the BMES Executive and Publications Boards.
