Seeking Biomedical Engineering Education Editor-in-Chief (BMEE)

About the Job

Biomedical Engineering Education (BMEE) is one of the four BMES journals published by Springer Nature. The founding Editor-in-Chief, Ann Saterbak, has served since 2021 and is stepping down on December 31, 2025. Under her leadership the Journal has attracted a diverse set of articles and a strong reputation. The BMES Publications Board is launching the search for the next BMEE Editor-in-Chief who will lead the growth trajectory of the Journal.

Biomedical Engineering Education is an interdisciplinary journal that presents articles on the practice and scholarship of education in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, and its allied fields. Biomedical Engineering Education documents and shares advances in the field as educators support students’ learning in these rapidly evolving fields. The Journal publishes a wide range of topics to advance the quality of all levels of biomedical engineering education through academic articles and communications that reflect the interdisciplinary nature of the field.

The Journal is currently publishing its 5th volume with two issues per volume. The Journal has published an average of 38 articles per year. The Journal has not yet established an Impact Factor. The Journal is indexed in EBSCO, Google Scholar, Portico, ProQuest, and numerous others.

The Journal has two Deputy Editors-in-Chief and 26 Associate Editors, who are responsible for individual manuscript reviews. The Editor-in-Chief is assisted by an editorial assistant, provided by Springer-Nature, who manages the review process. The EIC is also provided with a stipend by BMES. More information about the Journal and articles published can be found at https://www.springer.com/journal/43683.
