Robert A. Pritzker Distinguished Lecture Award (For 2027)
Each year, the Society bestows this prestigious award to individuals who have demonstrated impactful leadership and accomplishments in biomedical engineering science and practice.

Athanasiou Medal of Excellence in Translational Bioengineering
The BMES Athanasiou Medal of Excellence in Translational Bioengineering Award (the Athanasiou Medal) recognizes the achievements of an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the field of biomedical engineering with a particular focus on translation.

Athanasiou Student and Post-Doc Awards
The Athanasiou Student and Post-Doc Award recognizes the authors of the top graduate and post-doctoral papers published in ABME as the future leaders in biomedical engineering and honors the contributions of Dr. Kyriacos Athanasiou to the field.

Wallace H. Coulter Award for Healthcare Innovation
The Wallace H. Coulter Award for Healthcare Innovation Award recognizes the achievements of an individual who is integrally involved in the development of a biomedical device, diagnostic test/device, or combination device drug/device in the industry.

Social Impact Award
The BMES Social Impact Award honors an individual, project, organization, or institution for impactful contributions toward improving gender and racial diversity in biomedical engineering. The award seeks to recognize lifetime achievements and high-impact activities (i.e., research, academia, and service) that are innovative and improve equity among biomedical engineering academia and industry.

Mid-Career Award
The BMES Mid-Career Award recognizes a member in good standing who has demonstrated significant leadership and achievements in biomedical engineering. These achievements may be in scholarship, education, mentorship, leadership, or the practice of biomedical engineering.

Rita Schaffer Young Investigator Award
Each year, BMES offers the Rita Schaffer Young Investigator Award to stimulate research careers in biomedical engineering.

Herbert Voigt Distinguished Service Award
The Herbert Voigt Distinguished Service Award recognizes members who have made extraordinary contributions to the Biomedical Engineering Society. The award is given out periodically and at the discretion of the current President of BMES.

BMES Grade of Fellow Nominations
The BMES Grade of Fellow is a professional distinction granted by the Board of Directors upon a BMES member. This individual has demonstrated impactful achievements and has made significant contributions within the biomedical engineering community. They also have considerable leadership within their field of interest and served within the Society.

Christopher Jacobs Award for Excellence in Leadership
This award honors leadership excellence in the field of Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering (CMBE) and is named in memory and honor of Christopher R. Jacobs, Ph.D.

Shu Chien Achievement Award
This award is bestowed upon an individual who has demonstrated meritorious contributions to the field of cellular and molecular bioengineering.

CMBE Momentum Award
This award recognizes a CMBE-SIG member who is in the mid-career stage and has made a substantial impact on their field related to cellular and molecular bioengineering. This award is sponsored by APL Bioengineering.

Rising Stars
To maintain its multidisciplinary character and central research focus, the CMBE-SIG is committed to supporting new investigators within the field. Toward this goal, the “Rising Star” award has been given to a select group of exceptional junior principal investigators each year.

Post-doctoral Researcher Travel Award
The CMBE Post-doctoral Researcher Travel Award recognizes a postdoctoral research fellow who will attend the BMES Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering Conference to present their outstanding research in the field of cellular and molecular bioengineering.
