Internationally recognized as one of the foremost pioneers and educators in biomedical engineering. Dr. Chien's vision and leadership in integrating biomedical engineering with cardiovascular physiology and molecular cell biology has greatly impacted the field of cellular and molecular bioengineering. The BMES CMBE Shu Chien Achievement Award, the most prestigious honor bestowed by the BMES Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering SIG, is named in honor of Dr. Chien.
