High School Poster Expo
The BMES 2025 Annual Meeting High School Poster Expo offers high school students a unique opportunity to present their work to leaders in biomedical engineering. Participants will receive valuable feedback, network with peers, professors, and industry professionals, and if accepted, can also attend scientific and technical sessions.
We encourage all students to apply, especially those from the San Diego area, from BMES High School Student Chapters, and from underrepresented backgrounds.
Posters should be focused specifically on biomedical engineering areas.

Who is Eligible to Apply?
We accept applications from high school students in their junior or senior year by the start of the 2025 Fall semester.

Why Should I Apply?
Students selected to compete will broaden their awareness in the field of biomedical engineering, attend cutting-edge keynote presentations, and bolster their collegiate applications with this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Participants will also have ample opportunities to connect with our conference attendees ranging from undergraduate students to postdocs, admissions directors at leading BME programs, and research and industry leaders.

When is the Application Deadline?
The deadline to submit is Friday, August 15, 2025, at 11:59 PM EST.

When will Applicants be Notified if Their Poster is Accepted?
Applicants will be notified on or before Monday, September 15, 2025.

What Counts as a Traditionally Underrepresented Background?
Groups identified as being underrepresented in science and engineering include Women, African Americans, Alaskan Natives, Hispanics, American Indians/Native Americans, and Pacific Islanders (Guam, Hawaii, and American Samoa).

2025 BMES Annual Meeting in San Diego, California from October 8-11, 2025.

Are There Any Incentives for Applying?
All those participating with accepted posters will receive a discounted rate to attend 2025 BMES Annual Meeting for $100 for themselves and $100 for their chaperone.
Participants who are under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. Chaperone information must be included in your application.
