BMES is now accepting applications for members interested in serving on a BMES Committee and/or as a member of the Medical Devices Special Interest Group (SIG). We are also looking for volunteers who would like to serve on the leadership team of the Medical Devices SIG. If you're looking for an opportunity to shape the future of biomedical engineering, expand your professional network, and contribute to the Society's mission, now is the perfect time to get involved.
Applications are open through August 5, 2026.
BMES committees play a vital role in advancing the Society's programs, initiatives, and strategic priorities. Committee members work alongside leaders from academia, industry, government, and healthcare to help guide BMES and strengthen the biomedical engineering community.
Serving on a committee or SIG is a great way to:
Make a meaningful impact on the biomedical engineering profession
Share your expertise and perspective
Develop leadership skills
Build lasting professional relationships
Gain recognition through service to the Society
To be eligible to serve on a committee or SIG, applicants must:
Be a current BMES member in good standing at the time of application.
Maintain active BMES membership throughout their committee term.
Be willing to serve a three-year term.
Actively participate in committee meetings and collaborative discussions (meeting frequency varies by committee).
Please note:
Students are encouraged to apply and may serve as non-voting members on eligible committees.
Students are not eligible to serve on the Awards Committee or the Fellows Committee.
Only Fellows are eligible to serve on the Fellows Committee.
As BMES continues to refresh and reestablish several committees and SIGs, some groups may require additional time before appointments are finalized. We appreciate your patience throughout the selection process and will keep applicants informed as updates become available.
