Announcing the Co-Chairs for the BMES 2027 Annual Meeting

BMES is pleased to announce the appointment of the Co-Chairs for the 2027 BMES Annual Meeting in Columbus, Ohio: Dr. Jonathan Song, Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at The Ohio State University; Dr. Rita Alevriadou, Empire Innovation Professor in Biomedical Engineering at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York; and Dr. Meenal Datta, Assistant Professor and Jane Schoelch DeFlorio Collegiate Professor of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame and recipient of the 2025 BMES Rita Schaffer Young Investigator Award.

Dr. Song, Dr. Alevriadou, and Dr. Datta bring broad expertise across multiple areas of biomedical engineering, including biomechanics, imaging, immuno-engineering, molecular, cellular, and tissue engineering, as well as cancer, cardiovascular, and brain bioengineering. Together, they offer extensive experience as BMES conference track chairs and scientific leaders within the biomedical engineering community.

The 2027 Co-Chairs are strategically positioned to lead the Annual Meeting with strong professional relationships and collaborations throughout Ohio and across the northeastern and midwestern regions of the United States. Their collective vision emphasizes advancing engineering innovation, strengthening industry engagement, and expanding opportunities for students and early career investigators.
