The Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) is excited to share the official 2025 Annual Meeting Post Show Wrap-Up, highlighting a week of innovation, collaboration, and community at the San Diego Convention Center.
Held October 6–12, 2025, the meeting welcomed nearly 5,000 attendees from 25 countries, all coming together around this year’s theme, “Bridging Healthcare Gaps: The Role of Biomedical Engineering."
Throughout the week, attendees explored cutting-edge research, attended plenary lectures and workshops, and participated in new programming designed to connect science with real-world impact. Highlights included an Opening Plenary by Dr. Eric Topol, expanded professional development opportunities, and industry partnerships that showcased the future of healthcare innovation.
The meeting also celebrated excellence across the BMES community. Award winners and the 2025 Class of Fellows were recognized for their outstanding contributions to biomedical engineering, while students and early-career researchers engaged through competitions, poster sessions, and networking events.
New initiatives launched at the meeting, including the Pipeline to Progress campaign and a new childcare endowment supporting young investigators, reflected BMES’s continued commitment to advancing both the field and its people.
Beyond the science, attendees gathered for social events and community celebrations that strengthened connections across academia, industry, and clinical practice, reinforcing the collaborative spirit that defines BMES.
As we reflect on an inspiring week in San Diego, we look ahead to continuing these conversations at the 2026 BMES Annual Meeting, October 21–24 in Orlando, Florida.
