X. Edward Guo

Chair and Stanley Dicker Professor of Biomedical Engineering
Professor of Medical Sciences (in Medicine)
Director, Bone Bioengineering Laboratory

Ed Guo and his team focus on bone mechanobiology, bone cell mechanotransduction, and microstructural and biomechanical analyses of bone. They are developing innovative techniques in single cell biomechanics of osteocytes, three-dimensional ex vivo models for mechanotransduction studies, and cell-cell communications in bone cell networks. Ed Guo was one of the founding editors-in-chief the BMES international journal, Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering. He worked very closely with late Christopher R. Jacobs to transform the annual meeting of the Society for Physical Regulation in Biology and Medicine (SPRBM) into the annual Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering Conference and merge the SPRBM with the BMES to form the first Special Interest Group (SIG) in Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering (CMBE). Ed Guo then served as the founding chair of the CMBE SIG.
