In the letter, the signatories applaud President-elect Biden and his transition team for the steps they have taken to seek and follow recommendations from the scientific community regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and urges attention to foundational principles, emergency supplemental funding, and a strong commitment across disciplines and disease areas in the fight. Finally, the group recommends "an ongoing commitment to meaningful growth above the cost of biomedical research inflation for the NIH," and offered its community as a resource to help determine policies and formulate budget requests.
