The Biomedical Engineering Society offers several awards to recognize outstanding contributions to biomedical engineering and to the Society by established and emerging researchers.

Profile on Research

TruskeyGeorge Truskey, professor and chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Duke University, is completing his term as president of the Biomedical Engineering Society. A BSE graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Truskey conducted his doctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After receiving his degree, he was a research fellow at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School and an assistant professor at Tufts University.

Pritzker Distinguished Lecturer Award
(Deadline to nominate: May 31)

The Pritzker Distinguished Lectureship is awarded each year to an individual to recognize outstanding achievements and leadership in the science and practice of biomedical engineering. The awardee delivers a lecture that critically reviews a field of biomedical engineering and offers a vision of its future.

The BMES Distinguished Achievement Award is awarded each year to a company, charitable foundation, or nonacademic institution that has made great contributions to the field of biomedical engineering.
