01/24/2012The Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference seeks abstractsThe 28th Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference in Houston, Texas is seeking abstract submissions. Abstracts for podium or poster presentations are due by Feb. 1 and must be e-mailed to 2012SBEC@mdanderson.org. Acceptance notices will e-mailed on or before February 29, 2012. Student abstract submissions are eligible for awards. The objective of the conference is to bring together students, researchers, clinicians, and industry leaders in various areas of Biomedical Engineering, other engineering disciplines, and medicine to disseminate information in this rapidly growing field. The conference will cover Bioinformatics/Computational Biology; Bioinstrumentation/MEMs/Single Molecule Dynamics; Biomaterials/Drug and Gene Delivery/Nanotechnology; Imaging; and Cell and Tissue Engineering/ Cell Adhesion and Biomechanics, Reconstructive Plastic Surgery/ MicroSurgery. This conference will be beneficial to medical oncologists and hematologists, corporate medical directors and health plan medical directors, and other healthcare professionals, according to the organizers. On abstract submissions, please indicate the person to whom correspondence should be sent, if other than the first author, and include an address, telephone number, fax number, and e-mail address when submitting the abstract. The abstract should be one page with figures (if needed), 1” margin all around, 500 words. Include the title on the top with names and affiliations of the authors with the name of the presenting author underlined. The Conference Program Committee will select the abstracts for poster and podium presentation based on scientific merit and content quality. Abstract acceptance notices will be sent by e-mail by February 29, 2012. Freestanding 4 ft. x 8 ft. boards and pushpins will be provided for the poster session.
