2010 Biomedical Engineering Society meeting on track for record attendance

A record number of researchers, scientists and students will present their work at the 2010 BMES Annual Meeting in Austin. The meeting is also on track to shatter previous records for overall attendance.

Approximately 2,300 oral and poster presentations will take place at the meeting which occurs Oct. 6-9 at the Austin Convention Center. That is 17 percent more presentations than last year and 58 percent more than the 2008 meeting.

The 2010 annual meeting will be hosted by the University of Texas, Austin.

The 2010 meeting will feature three full days of symposia and sessions on all aspects of biomedical engineering, a Career Day for students and early-career professionals, and a host of professional and social activities at the Convention Center in vibrant Austin.

BMES offers prime space to exhibitors interested in reaching the Society’s members. The Austin meeting already has more than 70 reservations, surpassing all of the booths reserved at BMES 2009. BMES anticipates that all of the 110 available booths will be sold for the Oct. 6 to 9 meeting.

Poster sessions—one each morning and another each afternoon—take place in the exhibit hall, ensuring a regular flow of prospects for exhibitors. This year's new feature, College Row, will draw attendees as well, with student chapters from throughout the nation presenting exhibits and displays highlighting their own activities.

Vendor messages will reach more than 3,000 leading researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and leaders in health care and industry over the course of four days. These BMES members are gathering to learn about and present the latest research, recruit new talent, and develop academic, industry, and provider partnerships.

Medtronic, a world leader in medical technology and devices, is a Platinum sponsor of the BMES Annual Meeting.

Several other companies have expressed interest in the remaining sponsorships.
