Wall Street Journal: Biomedical Engineering is fastest growing occupation
Biomedical Engineering is the fastest growing occupation, according to Labor Department statistics reported in today’s Wall Street Journal.
From 2008 to 2018, job opportunities for biomedical engineering are expected to increase by 72 percent, according to the Labor Department. That translates into 11,600 new jobs with a median salary of $77,400, according to the Labor Department’s Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2010-11 Edition.
Medical scientists came in 6th on the list with 40 percent more jobs or 44,200 new positions.
The Wall Street Journal article said biomedical engineering is, “one of the hot jobs of the near future.”
